III.D Future Water Requirements
The determination of the current and historical water requirements of the District in Chapter
III.C.5 established the foundation for projections of future water requirements for the year 2045.
In the year 2045, the most probable demand scenario is based on a reduction in total farmable
acres within the District to a minimum of approximately 427,600 acres (compared to 480,000
farmable acres in 1994).

IILD.l Future Agricultural Water Requirements
As previously noted, agriculture is the largest user of water within the Imperial Valley and in the
year 2045 agriculture will still be the largest user of water. Reductions in agriculture's water use
will be directly related to the amount of land that is removed from cultivation due to urbanization
