These data will be used to <br />document crystal habit and degree of rime. Four to <br />five random photos of each dish will be taken to <br />characterize the snowfall. Also a manual record of the <br />crystal habits and riming will be kept as a backup to <br />the photos. The equipment consists of a microscope <br />with camera, automatic exposure control and cold stage <br />attachment. Tri-X B&W film is used. Negatives of the <br />photomicrographs will be contact printed into a time <br />series for later analysis. <br /> <br />During SF6 releases, the 2-D probe will be operated for at least <br /> <br />one hour prior to the release of the tracer, and continue for at <br /> <br />least one hour after release ends. <br /> <br />2.0 Radiometer Measurements <br /> <br />A dual-frequency (20.6 and 31.54 GHz) microwave radiometer, owned <br />by the Bureau of Reclamation, will be operated at the JCC <br />Observatory from approximatly Jan. 15 through April 30. The <br />radiometer will be used to measure path integrated liquid water <br />in mm and precipitable water vapor in em. <br /> <br />-, <br /> <br />The radiometer is controlled by a mini-computer which allows both <br /> <br />system control and data collection.
