The disk size is sufficient to record a
full seasons worth of data.

Tipping curves area means of calibrating the radiometer. These

will be performed approximatly every two weeks under clear sky

conditions and a steady water vapor environment. The procedures

for executing a tipping curve can be found in the radiometer

reference manual located in the radiometer trailer.

It is important that during radiometer operation, the outside
reflector dish be kept free of snow or water. The dish must be
checked often during moderate to heavy snowfall conditions. A
fan located near the dish is utilized to help maintain a snow
free surface.

The radiometer will need to be monitored as much as possible
during precipitation and/or cloudy weather. A contractor (North
American Weather) provided individual has been obtained for a two
month period to perform this function.

The objectives for using the radiometer are as follows:

1. Provide rea~-time indications of supercooled liquid water

for conducting seeding operations during the January through

March intensive field season.

24
