North Platte Roundtable Meeting Minutes 01.16.08
Six private property owners have agreed to have their lands mapped; CHNP will also
survey some State Trust, BLM, USFS, and Arapaho Refuge lands.
Roundtable discussion about the CNHI' application:
Rick Wyatt asked about confidentiality: if someone from CNHI' is put on the stand to
testify as a witness, or is called into court what do they do about confidentiality?
Barbara Vasquez said she will have to refer that question to Denise Culver of CHNP.
Barbara V opened the floor to other questions:
2
Rick W: can they do this cost estimate on an acreage basis? Break down how many acres
will be surveyed so we know the costs?
Barbara V: she is basing the estimate on a work season, what she can get done in one
field season in '08. This is their wages to work a field season and mulch the data.
Carl T: comment, had a call from Geoff Blakeslee from the Nature Conservancy. He
asked Carl to pass on some information: T Wright Dickinson had CNHI' do some work
on his BLM pernut, they found a plant, but in more abundance than they originally
thought.
Milce: where on public land will CNHI' be doing surveys?
Barbara: They are trying to compose a list of the public lands. The Refuge for sure.
Debbie A: have any other basins approved projects for CNHI'?
Barbara: No, but CNHI' has done surveys for the other basins through GOCO funding.
Kent Crowder: partnerships and fiinding question: are the listed partners in the
application for sure committed?
Pete Conovitz: The refuge is willing to donate staff time and in-kind costs
Kent C: if the partners donate, does CNHI' then give the grant money back to the basin
account?
Tom Hackleman: I would like to see a definite amount listed for partners' donations to
the project.
*The amount on the application should be subtracted by $17,000, based on partners'
donations.
The question came up of which account, basin or statewide, to reduce in the event of a
reimbursement.
Barbara V: The money would probably be allocated 50/50 to each account.
Kent: the applicant would have to decide that
Paula Belcher: since the state is mandating non-consLUnptive data, it seems like the
money should come back to the basin account
Kent C: We have $700,000 in the North Platte Basin Account. He talked to Rick Brown,
and we are in the time frame and the time limits for fiu7ding. This application has to be in
their hand s no later than the 18ti'
