Installation of an electrical system to automate pump

operation and to control the water level in the storage

tanks.

The Project

The town board opted to update the total System and adopted

all of the recommendations made in the feasibility study. The

Engineer was authorized to proceed with design plans for the

project.

Several months were spent trying to find an adequate source

of water in Lone Tree basin. 'Eight-test wells were drilled and

the yield was forecast on each well. One site indicated that an
infiltration gallery (figs. III, IV) would supply adequate water
for the towns' present and '~uture needs. The town Board compared

the estimated cost of the infiltration gallery against two other

alternatives and decided that the infiltration gallery was the

most feasible from a cost standpoint.

The infiltration gallery was installed in early 1981. A

complete testing (quantity and quality) was completed in May 1981

and plans were completed for the storage and transmission system

necessary to connect to the existing town system (fig. V-VIII).

The plans, specifications and bidding documents were subsequently

approved and bids were opened on November 10, 1981.

- 4 -
