II

.

.

-

II
:i
II

I
Lookout Water District, Town of Ramah, Red Rock Valley Estates, Rock Cre~k Mesa Water
,

District, and Sage Water Users Association. The locations of the service areas of the EI Paso
I
County water providers are shown for both current and proposed future areas on ~igure 1-1.

Because no specific planning horizon was used during the 1999 water provide~' s inventory by
GMS, Inc. (1999), specific data for the planning period through 2020 were not requested nor
I
provided. As part of this task, we have extrapolated or interpolated data fn}m the EI Paso
County water providers to estimate water demands for various years through the! year 2020. No
I
new data were collected for this phase. Those data and information provided by the EPCW A
were used in forecasting the year 2020 water demands for both individual watJr providers and
I
also for the County as a whole. These future individual water demand projectiobs also included
the CSU; however, future cumulative County water demands did not include lithe CSU. The
demands also included estimates of current and future water demands fori 25,000 people
I
estimated by EPCW A to be on private wells and not associated with existing water providers.
,
I
The water demand projections given in this phase are considered to be prelim~nary and based
only on data available at the time of report preparation. As new data and infohnation become
I
available, these water demand projections should be updated periodically. .

1.2 Historical and Current Water Usage
Historical and current water usage for water providers in EI Paso County ar~ summarized in

,
Table 1.1. Current usage figures are presented for the years 1995 through 1998.! These were the
water usage data available from the EPCW A (GMS, Inc., 1999). Several explanations of the
I
historical water usage values in Table 1.1 are needed to fully understand the available data.
I
,

I
Academy Water and Sanitation District (A WSD) and the Town ofCalhan have r~ported that they
I
are lOa-percent developed within their current boundaries. A WSD did not prov~de an indication
I
of future build-out dates or future service area. Therefore, it was assumed that AlWSD would not
I
expand past its present service area or increase its present water demand. Beca~se the Town of

Calhan did provide an estimated future service area, future water demand projedtions were made
,
for the Town (Section 1.3).

,
t
I
Colorado Centre Metropolitan District (Colorado Centre) partly lies within the fity of Colorado
Springs (City) and partly in EI Paso County. The portion of Colorado Centre within the City was
assumed to have its water demands included in the City water demands. The~efore, Table 1.1
only shows the historical water demands for that portion of Colorado Centre IQcated in EI Paso

2

WaterReport.doc

September 5, 2002
