as part of Constn~ction fiends bill, would be used for this purpose. Jennifer
Gimbel has been selected as new director of CWCB. Willcinson opines
that she is very qualified and holds promise for the state of CO and
CWCB.
One issue on which South Platte needs to move forward is list of
alternatives to solve gap-topic of discussion at November joint meeting;
SWSI Phase 2 suggests that major projects be studied as templates for
what can be done to solve gap. It was suggested at the November joint
meeting that the Chairs of 3 front range Roundtables would move forward
with a resolution to CWCB; concern is that if 3 Front Range Roundtables
pass a resolution asking that these projects be studied, could have onerous
affect on other roundtables. Thus, solution: a letter should be written from
these 3 roundtables to other roundtables of the State asking them to
support the CWCB to move forward with a study of these alternatives;
State of CO will not draft a letter that would be presented to the 3
roundtables and then that letter would go forth. State says if the 3
roundtables want that letter to go out, roundtables need to go forward with
that letter. Willcinson volunteers to work with Bill Jerke, chair of South
Platte, to draft a letter of indication for the support of the other
roundtables, then to work with the other chairs.
Bill Jerke: Confirms; email from Rick Brown: concerns exist with State
assisting to draft such a letter; thus, encourages South Platte to go forward
with such a letter to ask other roundtables to support State's study.
Willcinson: This is a result of the state wanting to stay neutral as per
whether these alternatives should be studied.
John Metli: Sees this letter as essential to further cooperation between the
basins.
Diane Hoppe: Attended meeting in Castle Rock; was impressed that each
Basin was present to learn about the other basin's needs and challenges
and to find a way to go forward; opines that we should write such a letter.
Sasha Charney: Agrees with Diane: letter should be more than just a push
to study alternatives; rather the letter should include a push to expand
dialogue among roundtables.
Bill Jerke: Eric Willcinson has offered to help draft; Jerke will issue letter
once written; others who would like help?
Charney: February meeting for full approval?
Jerke: Needs to go out before that. Small committee: Sasha, Larry
Howard, Eric Willcinson., Jolu1 Metli.
2
