--Shimmin: Move to advertise to any possible applicant that we will
consider any and all basin applications for this fiscal year at March
meeting.
--Gene Manuello: Seconds
Gene Manuello: Also, we need a reminder of need to submit
application to membership one week prior to roundtable.
--Sasha: Rolling grant programs are difficult to manage. Good grant
administration is to have acct-off. Thus, opines that Mike's idea is
good.
--Shimmin: This is the reason that the state-wide applications are
considered only two times a year. Roundtable can set own rules. We
have not been faced with more requests that money than has been
available.
--Lisa Darling: How to get word out about deadlines?
--McVicker: On webpage. Notify Hecox and Viola.
--Kernohan: not just tinting deadline; we need to put a stipulation
about capping the amount. Pinewood Springs, for instance, put lots
of time so that these applications laiow that there is a cap and that
this would promote better partnering.
--Shimmin: Suggests that on April agenda, n~les for grant
applications for coming year; then, we can articulate these.
--Sasha: To clarify: we have $445,000 through June 30, 2008.
Motion passes.
--Shimmin: Opines that the cap is not a good idea. What if, for
example, our roundtable wants to help move along a large program.
Tlus is why we should talk through this in April.
--Jerke: Maybe this is why we don't want to spend all money.
--Sasha: Ways to give this message out, for example, we could let it
be la7own on our website that "The average grant is awarded is
$150,000."
--Kernohan: I meant oiily basin account. Opines that this warrants
discussion in April.
3) Plan of Study for Upper Mountain Counties
--McVicker: Can we be creative in this application: apply for both
state and basin wide fiinds? Include other counties?
--Nicole Rowan: Yes, has been done.
--Topper: is the mandate a basin needs assessment?
--Janet Bell: Hal Simpson will present to Metro tomorrow
--Topper: these studies are not uiuversal; very different needs
between counties;
--Janet Bell: Won't know until the study is done. Looking for an
output study;
--Shimmin: If I were on Metro roundtable, I would ask why they
would spend their money for our basin; as per statewide money:
11
