are other roundtables using statewide money for their needs
assessment?
--Rowan: Yes, Gunnison is. Comes down to how much this is
going to cost. Thus, need to work through this and develop a
proposal that will work.
Updates on previously approved applications:
1) Chatfield Reallocation: Table until next month: Lisa Darling.
2) Clear Creek Water Bank/High Altitude Storage: Bert Weaver: Completed
field studies until Winter passes.
3) Ovid Reservoir Feasibility Study: Joe Frai~lc: waiting for details from State;
has not started the study; another issue is Policy No. 18 of CWCB and State's
roll in this project re: severance tax funds.
4) Lower South Platte Wetland Initiative: Kernohan: Project moving along
well Information needs to be resolved with CWCB before fiinding contract is
signed; partnership moving forward and using those funds currently to start
doing survey and design on those projects. We have notice that we received
$1 million NAWCA grant. Partnership has raised $1.2nullion. Money raised;
ready to put contracts together to get projects built. End of June of 2009
projects will be built.
Would suggest that we have a meeting in Lower South Platte in April.
Items for Future Consideration:
Republican River will present in Febn~ary.
SWSI II Technical Wlute Papers
--Sasha Charney: Would be interesting to study how we actually calculate rec
and environmental needs?
--Jerke: Would like presentation on non-consumptive needs assessment.
--Shimmin: Conservation metrics is a follow-up to presentation we received a
few months ago. RE: savings resulting from conservation measures: urban and
M&I uses.
--Consider establishing asub-committee on Rotational Fallowing or
Alternatives to Permanent Ag Transfers as a follow up to the Palo Verde, CA
trip.
--Jerke: Subcommittee: Jim Yalui, Gary Herman, Bill Jerke, Joe Frai~lc, Jolu1
Metli, John Stencil, And Reagan Waskom.
--Don Ament: There is $1.5 million available to take a look at alternatives to
ag dry up. Need someone to step forward. Could the roundtable be an
applicant? Discussion.
Jim Yalui nominated as temporary chair of alternatives to Permanent ag
transfers.
Next meeting: Febn~ary 12: Longmont: 4 pm- 8 pm
Adjourn at 7:50 pm
12
