<br />Water Efficiency Grant Program Mid-Term 'Project WET Grant Report (CWN) <br /> <br />..All conference attendees participated in a brainstor.ming session to idctltify and remove <br />'barriers toparticipatio11 in IJrojcct "WEf"f \'vorkshops throughout the state. Many ne"\v facilitators <br />requeste(l the su,pport of the Coordinator in planning or facilitating their first \X1E'I' workshop. <br />.As such, the Coordinator has been considerably mote il1volved in facilitating workshops thatl <br />originally thought '\vhcn the initial grant proposal was presented. Ms. Scarbe~lty has facilitated or <br />provided sllpport for at least 6 \vorkshops during this IJart of the grant term all(l is anticipated to <br />be heavily llv"'olved in as many workshops for the duration of the grant period. <br />Ms. Scarbeary has also been supporting facilitators and teachers in providhlg localized <br />applications of the l>roject WET materials and connected facilitators with regionally appropriate <br />resou.tces, exerts and field trip options to meet the need for regionally specific \vater <br />information. In response to these and other reqllests from facilitators the Coordinator is setting <br />up a mentoring program to support facilitators with regionally relevantW:ET\vorkshops, with <br />the long term result of ha\ring a more higWy traine{{ and experience corps of volunteer <br />facilitators. C:()ntinuing pr()grams arc in place with the <br />pre-service education programs at the University of Northern Colorad,o,!vietro State College and, <br />the 'University of Colorado at Denver where pre-service eclllcato.ts 1:eceive training in all three <br />Projects thro.ughout their tenure \vith the school. .i\ higher e(hlcation summit is l)cing considered <br />as a means of gaining a foothold \vith other pre-service cdllcation instittltions around the state <br />and cxpaIlding Ollt presence with 'teachers-ul-training'. <br /> <br />Provide Water Education Materials and Res,ourees <br />The Colorado Watershed Network has been serving as the hub for \vatereducati()fi reSOlltCeS, <br />connecting interested edllcatOts "\vith locally appropriate teaching materials, supplies, community <br />contacts and field trip opportunities. \Vith a nc\v'\vater education page on the C\XlN websitc in <br />the planning stages, this support can soon be done online. An interactive map of Colorado will <br />connect teachers anywhere in the state with local resources, field trip opportunities as well as <br />guest speakers and experts to support them in the classroom. <br />:E.vcry activity in the l)roject \V'E/f Curricll1um an{! Activity Guide has been correlated to the <br />C:olorado State Content Standards in the subject areas for Science, Social Studies, lteading and <br />ivfath.
