5) Recreation Analysis
. Dave Giger (Colorado State Parks) reported on the results of a recent
meeting dealing with recreation mitigation. Meeting attendees looked at
which facilities can be moved and the costs associated. Dave said he is
also seeing increases in estimates based on rising construction costs.
Another topic of concern is the impacts to the park while construction is
underway.
. Dave pointed out that there are some inconsistencies between the EDAW
maps and Tetra Tech's maps. Gary Drendel said he is currently looking
into this issue.
. Eric Laux brought up the Recreational Experience section in Chapter 4-it
provides a monetary value for any reduction in the recreational
experience. It will be a different park with the new water level and
relocated facilities. He feels the public will be concerned with the
transition time from the old park to the new park.

6) Environmental Mitigation Update
. Gary Drendel said that he has not received any input from the Water
Users regarding water supplies for the various mitigation scenarios and
still needs input.
. The Corps and Tetra Tech are currently coordinating with EDAW and the
Parks Department on the fate of mature cottonwoods.
. There is discussion of a berm being constructed to protect the Recreation
Pond (Gravel Pond #1, south of Kingfisher). The pond has recreation
attributes that will be difficult to mitigate

7) Public Involvement
. Gary Drendel reported that Tetra Tech authored a flyer that will be
distributed to Chatfield visitors informing them of the FR/EIS. There will
also be a link on the flyer to the Chatfield website (hosted by CWCB).
They are trying to get the flyer out ASAP.
. Katie Fendel asked if the Water Users will have the opportunity to
comment on the flyer. It was decided that the Users could take a look at it
during the meeting and make comments. The goal is to get the flyer in
distribution at Chatfield before the seasonal attendance drops off.
. Karen Sitoski (COE) said that she has been distributing a printout of the
CWCB website's coverage of the Chatfield Reallocation to interested
persons in the Visitors' Center. Overall response has not been bad. She
also reminded the group that the project will be discussed in a one hour
panel discussion at the Chatfield Basin Conservation Network Fall
Stakeholder Forum on October 18th.

8) Seismic Issues Update
. Eric Laux said that an emerging issue is related to the seismic stability of
the Chatfield dam. He acknowledged that this is a significant issue and a
study will have to be done. The COE will have to set up a Vertical Team

5
