North Platte Basin Roundtable Meeting Minutes, 11.27.2007
Denise said that CHNP is usually asked to peer review others, and CNHI''s
methodologies have been previously reviewed.
Hal Hagen asked about continual monitoring of sites once they are surveyed.
Denise: the survey is really just a snapshot of what's going on at that time, they try to
continue to monitor when they have the funds.
Hal: can you inchide monitoring costs in any possible proposal?
It was also discussed that the non-consumptive group can also request a task order if they
want information gathered or surveys done in the county.
Barbara Vasquez suggested that the non-consumptive needs assessment committee have a
meeting to answer these questions.
Ann Timbermaml and Barbara Vasquez need to be added to the non-consumptive group
on the IBCC website.
PNesentution by Hca1 Simpson Negu~rling the Wulrlen Tnsk O~rle~:
Assessment of Town of Walden Raw Water Supply
CDM had 5 task order items to address:
Hal Simpson discussed the daily water demands of Walden, the town water rights (HiHo
Ditch, Old SC Ditch, Walden Reservoir), and town groundwater rights: Well No. 1 & No.
2.
Hal discussed efficiency and reliability problems with the town's water supply:
The diversion dam isn't very efficient, and deteriorated.
Physical reliability is a problem, cannot divert 1 cfs during low flow from the HiHo and
old sc ditches. South and middle wells are dependent on irrigation, and have lower yields
in dry years and winter months. Reservoir has no delivery infrastn~cture, and limited in
ability to exchange.
How to improve reliability?
-HiHo ditch rights
-reservoir
-rehabilitate abandoned diversion structure
-excavate storage pond near water plant
-trade Walden reservoir shares for Meadowcreek reservoir shares. The town traded shares
from Michigan at one point.
Hal S. discussed the different options for the Town, pros and cons. He suggested
speaking with a water attorney in some cases.
Next steps: CDM will put cost estimates to the info they provided here, and finalize the
report. They will provide a report to the roundtable with figures and cost estimates.
