3 SECTION 23. Denver basin pumping optimization model -appropriation. (1) In
4 addition to any other appropriation, there is hereby appropriated, out of any moneys in the
5 Colorado water conservation board construction fund not otherwise appropriated, to the department
6 of natural resources, for allocation to the Colorado water conservation board, for the fiscal year
7 beginning July 1, 2008, the sum of up to eighty four thousand dollars ($84,000), or so much thereof
8 as may be necessary, for the board to participate with the Unites States geological survey in
9 performing ground water flow modeling to optimize pumping locations and rates with respect to
10 model-computed water level declines and storage depletions of the Denver basin aquifer system.
11 The modeling will be used to develop pumping scenarios that minimize water level declines to
12 extend the useful life of aquifers.

14 (2) The moneys appropriated in subsection (1) of this section shall remain available for the
15 designated purposes until the project is completed.

18 SECTION 24. Agricultural water conservation clearinghouse and canal efficiency
19 study -appropriation. (1) In addition to any other appropriation, there is hereby appropriated,
20 out of any moneys in the Colorado water conservation board construction fund not otherwise
21 appropriated, to the department of natural resources, for allocation to the Colorado water
22 conservation board, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2008, the sum of up to thirty thousand
23 dollars ($30,000), or so much thereof as may be necessary, :for the board to participate with the
~24 Colorado water resources research institute in developing an Internet web based searchable
25 database of agricultural water conservation information and to develop management strategies for
26 Sago pondweed, a submersed aquatic plant causing problems in irrigation canals along the front
27 range of Colorado.

29 (2) The moneys appropriated in subsection (1) of this section shall remain available for the
30 designated purposes until the project is completed.

33 SECTION 25. Estimated 2005 water use in Colorado -appropriation. (1) In addition
34 to any other appropriation, there is hereby appropriated, out of any moneys in the Colorado water
35 conservation board construction fund not otherwise appropriated, the department of natural
36 resources, for allocation to the Colorado water conservation board, for the fiscal year beginning
37 July 1, 2008, the sum of up to sixty seven thousand dollars ($67,000), or so much thereof as maybe
38 necessary, for the board to participate with the Unites States geological survey to present the 2005
39 Colorado water-use data compiled for the national water use information program of the United
40 States geological survey in a published report specifically for Colorado. The board will develop in
41 cooperation with the geological survey a detailed project scope of work to insure that the published
42 data is in a useful format that can be used in the Colorado decision support system. and other
43 Colorado water conservation board activities.

45 (2) The moneys appropriated in subsection (1) of this section shall remain available for the
