<br />, ' <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I'JOlTE <br /> <br />City of Brush <br />Storm Drainage Master Plan <br /> <br />BEYOND ENGINEERING <br /> <br />PROBLEM AREA IDENTIFICATION <br /> <br />Existing Drainage Facilities <br />Existing drainage facilities within the City of Brush include storm sewers within streets, <br />storm sewer inlets, manholes, retention ponds, small open channels and culverts. <br />Existing storm sewers vary in size from 12" to 36" in diameter. Most drainage facilities <br />are comparatively small and due to the generally flat slopes, have limited capacity. <br />Although maps with pipe sizes were provided by the city, pipe elevations are not <br />available and thus a detailed capacity analysis is not possible. Existing system capacities <br />were noted in the previous Carter Burgess study for some locations and existing <br />capacities were estimated in critical areas based on surface grades. A more detailed <br />evaluation of existing system capacity should be conducted during final design and prior <br />to construction to verify any assumptions. <br /> <br />Identified Drainage Problems <br />The drainage problem areas evaluated with this study were determined from several <br />sources. As part of the previous Carter Burgess study, problem areas were identified for <br />the following locations: <br /> <br />1. Clayton Street in the downtown commercial area. This area has experienced <br />frequent flooding streets with excessive ponding in the streets and flooding of <br />adjacent buildings and basements during storm events. <br /> <br />2. Sunset Addition (referred to as Emerson Street and Sunset Park in the previous <br />Carter Burgess study). This area also experiences frequent excessive street <br />flooding and occasional flooding of adjacent residences. The existing Sunset Park <br />retention pond has frequently filled up to, or close to its maximum capacity and <br />contributes to a reduced capacity of the existing storm sewers in streets in the <br /> <br />area. <br /> <br />Nolte Associates,Inc. <br /> <br />5 <br />
