North Central Area, which is a low-lying area near the southwest corner of the
I-76/North Colorado Avenue interchange. This area experiences frequent flooding
of streets and low-lying areas in backyards in the vicinity.

In addition to the areas considered as part of the previous study, the following additional
areas were identified by City of Brush officials and local residents as part of the current
study:

1. South Railroad Area. This area is located south of the railroad tracks in the
downtown area. In this area a 5" rainfall reportedly caused extensive flooding at
Knearl Street and South Curtis Street and other locations in the vicinity. (As a
clarification, this rainfall depth or intensity was not used for evaluation or design
of potential alternatives.)

2. Lincoln StreetlMill Street. This location, along the south side of Mill Street near
Lincoln Street and Ray Street has experienced frequent flooding at intersections
and stormwater has backed up into houses. Stormwater flows come from Hospital
Road from the south and west and back up at the intersection.

ALTERNATIVE DEVELOPMENT

General
Several alternatives for addressing local drainage problems in the Clayton Street, Sunset
Addition and North Central Area were developed and evaluated as part of the previous
Carter Burgess study. These altematives consisted of a combination of additional storm
sewers, retention ponds, local grading and other improvements developed for the 10-year
and 25-year storm events. Several of these altematives are also included in this study.
Minor modifications were made where appropriate and cost opinions were updated to
current 2006 costs. Additional altematives requested by the City of Brush and identified
by Nolte Associates, Inc. were also evaluated for this study.
