Oosely monitor District irrigation on parks and open space: <br /> <br />· Maintain 2005 irrigation levels on parks and drip irrigation (District irrigation <br />of parks and open space were metered for the first time in 2005). <br /> <br />· Reduce open space irrigation by an additional 10 percent (5.9 AFY) with a <br />total outdoor District usage not to exceed 93 AFY (District metered usage in <br />2005 was 98.9 AF). <br /> <br />4. Provide assistance to the HOAs in reducing irrigated turf by 25 percent <br /> <br />5. Select conservation measures and prog~ams that are compatible with the <br />community. - <br /> <br />6. Establish a monitoring system that collects a sufficient amount of data to <br />effectively measure the success of conservation programs and measures on an <br />annual basis. <br /> <br />1)1ese goals were developed with the intention of providing an optimal range of <br />target savings, while also facilitating the ability to easily measure the success of the <br />plan on an annual basis. <br /> <br />3.0 Irrigation Management System Overview <br /> <br />CALSENSE water management system products have been available on the market <br />since 1986. A variety of technical features have been added to these systems providing <br />greater central control and improved irrigation efficiencies. These systems have been <br />installed throughout the United States including California}' Nevada, Arizona, Texas, <br />Utah, and New :Mexico. Under the proposed project! the District would be one of the <br />first providers in Colorado to use a CAl.SENSE irrigation management system <br />(Irrigation Management System). Under the proposed project" the District would <br />implement the Irrigation Management System in a series of District-owned and <br />operated parks and. would document observed differences in water use associated <br />with implementation of the Irrigation Management System. <br /> <br />3.1 Major COntponents <br /> <br />The District has been working with EWlllg Irrigation, a CAl5ENSE distributor" in <br />determining the equipment needed to best meet the District's irrigation management <br />needs. The District plans to purchase the following major components: <br /> <br />· Weather Station - Station would be installed at an optimal location in the District <br />service area. This station would measure weather parameters such as temperature, <br />wind speed, and radiation used to estimate evapotranspiration (ET). Daily ET rates <br />would be estimated and used to regulate irrigation application rates.
