Spring Creek is an ephemeral stream that runs through the community
from north to south with a watershed area of just under 100 square miles at the do'wnstream town
limit. The effective floodplain mapping for Pierce is the FEMA Flood Insurance Study dated
1979. The FIRM for Pierce shows a split floodway on the western and eastern sides of the
railroad tracks.

Meeting Purpose
CWCB staff scheduled a meeting at the Pierce Town Hall on Aug. 1, 2001 regarding issues
related to the Spring Creek floodplain and the proposed floodplain map revisions. The meeting
served as a kick-off to the Corps of Engineers analysis of the floodplain that will serve as the
technical basis for a FEMA map revision. The CWCB and Corps provided information to the
Town regarding the study, and the Town was given the opportunity to ask questions, provide
input, and discuss their needs and concerns about the Spring Creek floodplain.

Meeting Attendance
The following persons attended the meeting:
· Tom Browning, Colorado Water Conservation Board
· Tom Gorman, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha
· Mike Ketterling, Town Engineer (KBN Engineers)
.
