There is also a pending annexation on the southeast side of town in the
Frenchman Creek floodplain. A local developer is proposing to construct a subdivision in an area
with known water surface elevations. The developer would like to place fill in the flood fringe to
remove the structures from the 1 DO-year floodplain. Such an activity is permissible under the town's
floodplain ordinance and can be issued a floodplain development permit. Compacting of fill
according to ASHTO standards is also a NFIP regulatory requirement. The town needs to inform the
developer of the Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) process so that removal of the proposed structures
from the floodplain can be recognized by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
