.t -4 ~-
This would not meet the two year design criteria, however, it would be possible to implement these
improvements over time in phases within the City budget. Each facility built will provide improved
stormwater conveyance.
The City will investigate further the possibility of utilizing a detention pond at the northwest corner of the
large circle just south of Johnson Street and just east of Interocean A venue, This existing detention pond,
while undersized, would provide some benefits and the possible expansion of this pond would be a
significant improvement to the drainage control system in Holyoke. The City officials will approach the
owner, who also is siiting on the City Council (Rupert O'Neil).
An additional change to the plan is to utilize the large pond west of Walsh as a detention pond, rather than
a retention pond. The goal will be to reduce the size requirements of the outlet piping that would flow
under the railroad embankment to the north.
No more specific modifications to the proposed drainage master plan were mentioned, however, the
possibility exists that the City will make further suggestions prior to the plan's completion. As of this
date, the plan is to complet~ the drainage master plan given these modifications.
2 P:\1995\95.026\OIIOO\wp\JTK-2 M-Files re 12-\3 ffilg,wpd
