Castle Pines Norlh Metropolitan District
Application for Water Efficiency Grant

1.0 District Water Demands and Supplies

The District is located in the south metro Denver area, in northern Douglas County
approximately 5 miles north of Castle Rock and west of Interstate 25. The District
provides water supply and wastewater collection services to approximately 3,000
homes and 25 commercial users. See Attachment A for a copy of the District's
Organizational Proceedings developed when the District was founded in June of 1984.

1.1 Historical Water Use

Annual Water Use

The District currently relies on eleven Denver Basin groundwater wells for its potable
water supply. Over the past three years, the District has also used treated wastewater
effluent (reclaimed water) to irrigate the Ridge Golf Course. The reuse of reclaimed
water for irrigation of this golf course is anticipated to continue into the future. Total
well production data and metered reclaimed water use were used to tabulate recent
years' demands in the Districes service areal. Figure 1 shows these data from 1998 to
2006.

1 Historical annual demands were estimated with well production data, as presented in the
Water Conservation Plan and in this document. This is because historical metered water
usage data prior to 2005 are not available. These data were lost when the District changed to
a new billing system in 2004.
