<br />The Colorado Division of Emergency Management coordinated with other agencies on <br />concurrent state planning and risk management effOlis, including the extremely important <br />natural hazard specific annexes to the state plan. The Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />Flood Protection Section of the Department of Natural Resources hired a contractor to <br />update the Flood Hazard Mitigation Plan, last updated during the 2003/4 process. <br /> <br />DEM mitigation and other agency staff reviewed drafts of updated annexes, state laws, <br />executive orders, and regulations and identified state departments and offices that have <br />some role or stake in natural hazard mitigation. Roles varied from owning property to <br />doing constmction to funding mitigation projects to providing technical assistance. Some <br />agencies did not participate in 2004 based on limitations of use for this plan. Department <br />representation on the State Hazard Mitigation Team is as follows: <br />. Department of Agriculture <br />. Department of Higher Education <br />. Department of Local Affairs <br />. Department of Natural Resources <br />. Department of Transportation <br />. Department of Personnel and Administration <br />. Department of Public Safety <br /> <br />Federal partners invited and willing to participate in the planning process either through <br />meetings or electronic medium included USDA Farm Services Agency, FEMA, USDA <br />Forest Service, National Weather Service, and U.S. Anny Corps of Engineers. Local <br />pminers invited and willing to pmiicipate included the Colorado Emergency Managers' <br />Association, Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, County Technical Services, Inc., <br />and Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association. Local emergency managers and <br />state foresters participated through written and individualized methods. Many <br />meetings and contacts occurred early on to get specific projects and input started.
