Colorado. Over the four festivals, we were able to interact with approximately 1,500-
2,000 children. We handed out mirror decals to promote the children turning off the
faucet while they brush their teeth and gave them leak detector tablets as an activity to
do with their parents and also passed out small tattoos that read "I'm Water Smart".
Overall, the children enjoyed the presentation and the OWCDP staff thought it was
successful. The locations of the festivals were in Westminster, Fort Collins, Boulder and
Grand Junction.

Upcoming Statewide Water Conservation Workshops: The Office of Water
Conservation and Drought Planning (OWCDP) is currently supporting the third round
of Water Conservation Workshops in collaboration with Great Western Institute,
Colorado WaterWise Council and Western Resource Advocates. Two workshops, held
in Greeley and Pagosa Springs have been completed with two remaining. The
remaining dates and locations are:

· Grand Junction - July 9 & 10 - Mesa County Fairgrounds
· La Junta - July 16 & 17 - Otero Junior College

The workshops will incorporate water conservation lessons learned and model
applications. Staff will present information on the OWCDP technical and financial
assistance programs. For more information about workshop agendas, please refer to the
CWCB website - www.cwcb.state.co.us/Conservation.

Water Availability Task Force Update: The next Water Availability Task Force
(WATF) meeting will be July 24, 2007, 1:00pm to 3:30 pm at Denver Water. Task Force
members will review streamflow and precipitation outlooks, reservoir conditions,
potential water supply impacts, and discuss the status of revisions to the Colorado
Drought Mitigation & Response Plan. A meeting agenda can be found on the CWCB
website.

Colorado Communities Awarded FEMA Grants for Flood Preparedness:
Three communities recently received grants from FEMA mitigation programs to
improve their flood preparedness, and one more is on a waiting list for further
consideration. The Town of Erie was awarded a Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) project
grant of $290,025 to upgrade a dangerous crossing of Coal Creek under an access road
to the municipal airport. Huerfano County was awarded a Flood Mitigation Assistance
(FMA) planning grant of $25,200 to prepare a flood mitigation plan. When this plan is
completed, the County and its municipalities will become eligible for project mitigation

14
