education included: a) a notebook for each roundtable members of basic water <br />information created by the Colorado Foundation for Water Education; b) SWSI materials, <br />reports, and presentations; c) a groundwater atlas and artificial recharge study created by <br />CGS; d) a CSU report on beliefs and values on water; and e ) various other basin specific <br />materials. <br /> <br />In addition to Basin Roundtable educational presentations and educational materials, the <br />Interbasin Compact Process has supported roundtable member at tendance at other <br />program wide meetings or water related events. This has included Basin Roundtable <br />member attendance at groundwater workshop s, west slope roundtable caucus es , water <br />conservation workshops, and a conference on the role of research and high er education in <br />basin - wide water needs assessments. <br /> <br />In FY07 - 08 , the Basin Roundtables will continue to implement their education agenda. <br />This will involve: <br />? <br /> <br />Additional educational presentations at Basin Roundtable meetings <br />? <br /> <br />Additional educational materia ls for Basin Roundtable members as requested and <br />as resource s allow <br />? <br /> <br />Continued assistance for Basin Roundtable member attendance at water events <br />and workshops <br /> <br />3.3 Cross Roundtable/ Statewide Education <br />In order for the Interbasin Compact Process to be succes sful, Basin Roundtable and IBCC <br />members need to truly understand and appreciate the issues, challenges, and opportunities <br />in other basins. Basin Roundtable and IBCC members have begun learning about and <br />addressing issues that involve more than one basin/r oundtable, and started educating <br />other roundtables and the IBCC on the major water issues within each basin. <br /> <br />In FY07 - 08, these efforts will continue and will be enhanced through: <br />? <br /> <br />The production of communication material outlining the major water issues faced <br />by each basin <br />? <br /> <br />Additional presentations from host Basin Roundtables to the IBCC and the use of <br />those presentations as the basis for communication material <br />? <br /> <br />The encouragement of joint roundtable meetings <br /> <br />3.4 Public Education and Communication <br />The Inter basin Compact Process is charged with c ommunicating to the public the <br />activities of the Basin Roundtables and the IBCC, and involving the larger public in the <br />debate regarding water needs and potential methods for meeting those needs. The Basin <br />Roundtable s and the IBCC are to serve as a forum for public involvement. <br /> <br />To help achieve this, t he Basin R oundtable and IBCC meetings/ activities are , as required <br />by law, open public meetings. In addition, each Basin Roundtable and IBCC member <br />represents a certai n geographic or interest area. Members are responsible for informing <br />and engaging their various constituents and communities. <br /> <br /> 12 <br />
