IBCC m eetings will be moved around the state and conducted in conjunction with <br />r oundtable meetings . The IBCC ’s FY07 - 08 meetin g schedule and proposed agenda is <br />attached. <br /> <br />Section 3: Public E ducation , Participation, and O utreach <br />The Interbasin Compact Process has a large education and outreach component directed <br />at both the Basin Roundtable mem bership and the larger public. Elements include: <br />? <br /> <br />IBCC Public Education, Participation, and Outreach Work Group <br />? <br /> <br />Basin Roundtable Self - education <br />? <br /> <br />Cross Roundtable and State wide E ducation <br />? <br /> <br />Public E ducation and Communication <br /> <br />3.1 IBCC Work Group <br />st <br />The IBCC, in accordance with the Colorado Water for the 21 Century Act, has <br />developed a public education and outreach working group. This group is responsible for <br /> <br />1. Creating a process to inform, involve, and educate the public on the IBCC’s <br />activities and the progress of the interbasin compact negotiations, and <br /> <br />2. Create a mechanism by which public input and feedback can be relayed to the <br />Interbasin Compact Committee and compact negotiat ors. <br /> <br />This Work Group has met regularly since summer 2006, and has engaged the services of <br />MaryLou Smith from Aqua Engineering as their facilitator. They have developed a <br />working matrix of activities they wou ld like to pursue . <br /> <br />In FY07 - 08 they will conc entrate on: <br />? <br /> <br />Re - designing and implementing the program website <br />? <br /> <br />Updating and refining a database of water education activities throughout the state <br />? <br /> <br />Working with DNR staff, contractors, and CSU Cooperative Extension Services <br />on creating communication material <br />? <br /> <br />Piloting a series of public or town - hall meetings <br />? <br /> <br />Continuing to pilot a “network analysis” to identify which stakeholders the <br />Interbasin Compact Process is actively engaging <br /> <br />The working group may also begin implementing other activities on their working matrix <br />during FY07 - 08 as time and resources allow . <br /> <br />3.2 Basin Roundtable Education <br />Basin Roundtable members are educating themselves about important water issues within <br />their basin, and serving as a forum for education an d debate regarding water issues. <br />S ince their inception, Basin Roundtables have dedicated a significant amount of time to <br />the education of the members. This has achieved several purposes such as increasing the <br />basic water knowledge of the members, learning about water issues in all parts o f their <br />basin, bonding as a roundtable, and assessing existing water information/data. <br /> <br />Basin Roundtable members have also been provided a range of materials to help increase <br />their basin water knowledge and understanding.
