water issues like those being dealt with by the Interbasin Water <br />Guidelines Committee. <br /> <br />Webster J ones gave a brief statement that he is at the meeting as a <br />facilitator and to help assist with compromising everyone’s visions <br />together. <br /> <br />Mr. Jones led a discussion on the vision statements that had been <br />presented to the committee. During the discussion, the committee <br />decided to use Mark Pifher’s proposed vision statement as a starting <br />point to combining everyone’s visions into one. Mark Pifher’s proposed <br />vision statement before revision read: <br /> <br />To ensure the adequacy, including quality and quantity, of <br />w ater supplies within the basin in a manner which sustains <br />the economic, social and environmental values of the area, <br />while protecting private property interests, respecting <br />state water laws, and promoting efficient use of the <br />resource. <br /> <br />The committee proce eded to make suggestions as to what changes or <br />additions each individual member would like to see in the final vision <br />statement. These suggestions included: <br /> <br />1) changing <br /> <br />2) revise “respect” <br /> <br />3) area? – watershed/basin <br /> <br />4) storage <br /> <br />5) conservation <br /> <br />6) agricultural parity <br /> <br />7) mutua l respect, private property interests <br /> <br />8) accessibility <br /> <br />9) protect interests of everyone <br /> <br />10) recreational values <br /> <br />11) take care of people living where water originates <br /> <br />12) retains and manages <br /> <br />13) compliance with current laws <br /> <br />14) availability and protection vs. adequacy <br /> <br />15) protect the ri ght of private property owners <br /> <br />16) enhance vs. sustain <br /> <br />17) vitality, quality of life <br /> <br />18) for all present and future generations <br /> <br /> <br />Arkansas Basin Round Table subcommittee: 2 of 3 <br />Interbasin Water Transfer Guidelines <br />October 11, 2006 <br />
