water issues like those being dealt with by the Interbasin Water
Guidelines Committee.

Webster J ones gave a brief statement that he is at the meeting as a
facilitator and to help assist with compromising everyone’s visions
together.

Mr. Jones led a discussion on the vision statements that had been
presented to the committee. During the discussion, the committee
decided to use Mark Pifher’s proposed vision statement as a starting
point to combining everyone’s visions into one. Mark Pifher’s proposed
vision statement before revision read:

To ensure the adequacy, including quality and quantity, of
w ater supplies within the basin in a manner which sustains
the economic, social and environmental values of the area,
while protecting private property interests, respecting
state water laws, and promoting efficient use of the
resource.

The committee proce eded to make suggestions as to what changes or
additions each individual member would like to see in the final vision
statement. These suggestions included:

1) changing

2) revise “respect”

3) area? – watershed/basin

4) storage

5) conservation

6) agricultural parity

7) mutua l respect, private property interests

8) accessibility

9) protect interests of everyone

10) recreational values

11) take care of people living where water originates

12) retains and manages

13) compliance with current laws

14) availability and protection vs. adequacy

15) protect the ri ght of private property owners

16) enhance vs. sustain

17) vitality, quality of life

18) for all present and future generations
