<br />-, . <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />002'7~7 <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />CURRENTS <br /> <br />UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO <br /> <br />Andrew Earles and Joe Nye of WWE are <br />instructors at the University of Colorado's <br />Denver Campus for a refresher course covering <br />topics that will be included on the professional <br />engineer exam this April. Andrew is teaching the <br />water resources portion of the exam, and Joe is <br />teaching the environmental section. <br /> <br />KAIBAB 2 SEWER LINE <br /> <br />On behalf the Silver Creek Water & Sanitation <br />District (SCWSD), the Town of Granby, the <br />Granby Sanitation District, and others, WWE <br />continues to perform professional engineering <br />services for this important new sewer <br />interceptor proj ect. <br /> <br />Most recently, the Grand County Planning and <br />Zoning Commission approved a 1041 Permit <br />Application. Gary Cooper, manager of the <br />SCWSD, attended the 1041 hearing and was <br />pleased to report the compliments offered by <br />Grand County planning staff on behalf of our <br />submittal. <br /> <br />MESA VERDE ANCIENT RESERVOIRS <br /> <br />With the issue of "censorship" of Ken Wright's <br />book on Mesa Verde, as reported in American <br />Archaeology and Science magazines in recent <br />months, Ken will republish with Johnson <br />Books. <br /> <br />The censorship question arose due to use of the <br />word "Anasazi." Some tribes object to using <br />that word, preferring instead "ancestral <br />Puebloans." Thanks to Johnson Books, the new <br />publication will not contain the word. <br /> <br />REMAX A TEAM <br /> <br />Waste Engineering, Inc. has completed a site <br />assessment for Riverside Import Auto in <br />Glenwood Springs. Craig Heydenberk <br />performed the work. <br /> <br />We thank Doug Olson and the Remax A Team <br />of Glenwood Springs for this assignment. <br /> <br />UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN VISIT <br /> <br />The ~hair of the Civil and Environmental <br />Engineering Department of the University of <br />Wisconsin-Madison will visit Denver in August. <br />Ken Wright will join Dr. Jeff Russell in <br />updating University of Wisconsin civil <br />engineering graduates on the department's <br />activities and its successful cutting~edge <br />education and research. <br /> <br />FORT LUPTON PIT APPROVAL <br /> <br />Both Weld County and the state have approved <br />the proposed expansion of L.G. Everist's Fort <br />Lupton aggregate operation. This expansion <br />would increase the size of the current operation <br />in a phased manner. The reclaimed use of each <br />phase would be water storage. <br /> <br />WWE . delineated wetlands for the proposed <br />expansion site. We also assessed potential <br />impacts to surface water and groundwater. This <br />included groundwater modeling of the proposed <br />expansion. We worked with staff members of <br />the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology <br />to address their concerns. <br /> <br />We appreciate the opportunity to assist L.G. <br />Everist with this project. <br /> <br />WWE/WEI <br />
