The transmission pipeline would parallel Colorado Highway 36 for much of its length. A possible
altemative (which would eliminate some of the transmission pipeline costs) would be to pipe water
from Lake Estes into the Little Thompson drainage, provided that resulting water losses from the
streambed and evaporation would be acceptable.

Alternate H: Storage at Pinewood lake and Transmission to an Upgraded Water Treatment
Plant
This altemate would involve a 50 gpm pumping facility to convey water stored in Pinewood Lake
located in Section 31 of Township 5N, Range 70W to the expanded water treatment plant, as
described in Altemate A.

Alternate I: Hauling Treated Water from Off-5ite Sources for Introduction Into the Pinewood
Springs Distribution System
This altemate is essentially the status quo altemate which must be considered. Pinewood Springs
will need to continue hauling water in from off-site during dry years if no other action is taken.
Despite significant conservation efforts and low per-capita water usage, it will not be possible for the
District to avoid water hauling without additional storage.

Power and Standby Power
Alternatives for standby power were considered in preparing this Planning Document. There is no
3-phase power supply loop to the project area available from Poudre Valley REA at present.
Therefore, standby power to increase reliability for the altemates evaluated will have to be provided
by either an on-site generator, rented mobile generators, or by extending an altemate power supply
loop to the area.

5
