By deepening Crescent Lake to obtain
approximately 5.5 acre-feet of capacity, and by adding Powelson Reservoir, a total capacity of
approximately 18 acre-feet would be available.

A transmission line from Crescent Lake/Powelson Reservoir to the existing treatment plant would be
required. This would generally follow Kiowa Road before heading to the north and downhill to the
treatment plant. An additional micro-filtration train would be required to bring the treatment plant up
to the required capacity. There is room within the existing water treatment plant to accommodate a
second train.

Alternate B: Enlarge Crescent Lake and Build a New Water Treatment Plant
This alternate would be nearly identical to Altemate A. However, a new treatment plant would be
built adjacent to the combined Crescent Lake/Powelson Reservoir. This would provide the
opportunity for a larger capacity, single train, micro-filtration system to meet the design criteria. In
this case, the existing water treatment plant would remain available to be placed on-line as needed.
This reservoir would be filled from a diversion on the River just north of Kiowa and thence piped to
Crescent Lake. A new infiltration gallery located approximately 50' south of the Kiowa Road bridge
would provide a raw water feed to the new water treatment plant, similar to that employed at the
existing plant.

Alternate C: Construct a Reservoir in Maure Hollow and Upgrade of the existing Water
Treatment Plant
This altemative consists of constructing a reservoir in Maure Hollow, together with a fill and draw
system. This site is located across the Little Thompson River from, and adjacent to the existing
water treatment plant site. This would eliminate the need for a significant amount of piping and for a
new diversion point and infiltration gallery.

The existing water treatment plant would be upgraded as ouUined for Altemative A.

The proposed reservoir site in Maure Hollow is located just inside United States Forest Service
property.,
3
