Drain at Low Point. and Appurtenances

There are no known pipe manufacturers or vendors that supply polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
pipe larger than 48 inches in diameter. Rather, larger-size high-density
polyethylene (HOPE) pipe can be supplied by either Mountain States Pipe & Supply in
Aurora, Colorado from an HOPE pipe manufacturing plant in Reno, Nevada, or supplied
from Northern Pipe Specialty in Missoula, Montana from a manufacturing plant in
Tucson, Arizona. A more readily available HOPE or PE pipe size is that designated as
nominal pipe size 63M with a 32.5 DR rating (average outside diameter is 63.209 inches
and average inside diameter is 59.10 inches), however, is expected to not be suitable from
a hydraulics design standpoint for this project, unless a parallel-pipe system be
considered.

Also, based on a preliminary siphon pipeline system hydraulics equivalency evaluation, a
nominal 66-inch diameter HOPE pipe size would be hydraulically-equivalent to the 72-
inch nominal diameter welded steel pipe, RCP or elliptical-shaped concrete pipe. Until
the design for the pew siphon pipeline system is underway and the hydraulics
design/adequacy checks completed, PVC pipe, at least for the time being, is not
considered a pipeline replacement alternative for the existing system pipeline.

February 2005 material costs - source: Mountain States Pipe & Suoolv (Aurora.
~

Driscoplex 2000 Spirolite HOPE material
cost@ $176.00 per linear foot
plus $15,000 transportation cost
to Pueblo (on flatbed trucks)
plus @ $350.00 per linear foot for
installation between 300' to 400'
(includes local site excavation,
foundation subgrade preparation,
bedding and backfill materials
selection/processing, placement, and
compaction/densification, and 15 %
consttuction contingency)

Cost Range

$172,800.00 for 300 feet of siphon
pipeline
