These cost comparisons are presented in Table 1. The lowest
engineering cost estimate was based on a RCP replacement siphon pipeline system. During
the following project work, an opinion of probable cost estimate for the proposed
installation of the selected replacement 72-inch diameter RCP siphon pipeline alternative
and appurtenances, including other site facilities, was developed and is presented in Table 2.

The Opinion of Probable Costs for the Smith Arroyo Replacement Siphon Pipeline
Project includes overburden soils and rock excavation and sediment removal in Smith
Arroyo, the removal and demolition of the existing concrete-encased wood stave pipeline
and appurtenances, the installation of new 6-foot diameter RCP pipe, and the installation
of an automated trash rack screen system with two fIxed adjacent bar trash screens. The
automated trash screen will also be equipped with power to operate the facility. Proposed
staff gages for monitoring water levels in the canal at the upstream inlet structure and
downstream outlet structure are also included.

Unit cost information was obtained from local sources and rural Colorado costs in the
region for project cost estimating purposes. The Opinion of Probable Cost information
below is based on January 2005 cost data.

Construction Engineering
Cost Cost
$350,000 $55,000

Constuction Construction
Engineering Cost Cost Contingency
$30,000 $70,000

Estimated
Total Cost
$505,000

The total estimated construction cost is $350,000. The estimated project final design
engineering cost is $55,000 and the construction engineering cost is $30,000. An
estimated construction contingency cost is $70,000. The total estimated project cost
is $505,000.

1- ~ S-O, Dc-"O

5:5, ()oe>

SO I (JOO
7() ( 000

-

1>50~OOD
/
