Residential sales include water
used in single family homes, duplexes, apartments, and trailers. The commercial
category includes water use in office buildings, shopping malls, hotels, public
buildings, schools, churches, hospitals, industries, and similar institutions. Table 7
shows the volume of water that was sold to residential and commercial customers
for each month during year 2000.

As can be seen from Table 7, during the year 2000, residential water usage
accounted for 78 percent of the total annual water sales within the Fountain
system. Based on an annual residential water usage of 492.5 million gallons for
year 2000 and an estimated service area population of 13,370 people, the annual
average residential water demand in the Fountain system is about 100 gallons per
capita per day (gcd).

TABLE 7
METERED WATER SALES FOR YEAR 2000
Residential Commercial Total Sales
Month Sales Sales
(mil gal) (mil gal) (mil gal)
January 25.9 5.6 31.5
February 21.8 6.5 28.3
March 24.1 5.1 29.2
April 30.9 6.3 37.2
May 46.2 13.1 59.3
June 80.5 20.1 100.6
July 57.0 16.5 73.5
August 57.0 16.1 73.1
September 53.6 16.1 69.7
October 34.6 13.4 48.0
November 37.7 11.9 49.6
December 23.2 4.3 27.5
Total 492.5 135.0 627.5
(78 %) (22 %)

14
