.

.

.

basis, the percentage of water obtained from Fry-Ark can vary significantly on a
seasonal basis.

.

.

An evaluation of the monthly water production and purchase records from
the past five years indicates that about 62 percent of Fountain's total annual water
use generally occurs during the six-month period from May through October. By
comparison, just over half (about 56 percent) of the Fry-Ark water purchases occur
during this six-month period, while an average of about 82 percent of the well
production occurs during that half of the year. Thus, the Fry-Ark water purchase
volumes do not vary significantly throughout the year while well pumpage tends to
be considerably higher during the summer months. In other words, the Fry-Ark
supply is generally being utilized as a base supply, and the wells are being used
primarily as a supplemental source of supply to help meet the higher summer-time
water demands.

.

.

.

.

.

In order to better illustrate the seasonal variations in water purchases and
well production, Table 5 lists the City's monthly water purchases and pumpage
volumes for year 2000 and indicates the relative percentages of the water obtained
from each source during each month of the year. The year 2000 was somewhat
unique in that an even higher-than-normal proportion of the water use (67 percent)
occurred during the May to October time period. Because of the higher-than-normal
summertime demands, 58 percent of the Fry-Ark water purchases and 94 percent
of the well pumpage occurred during those months.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

11

.
