The DRD group has obtained a $25,000 319 Nonpoint <br />Source Funding grant, which it will use to develop a watershed plan for the Dolores <br />River from below McPhee Reservoir to the state line. DRD representatives will attend <br />and discuss the DRD's efforts at a workshop on August 1-2 in Boulder conducted by The <br />Nature Conservancy ("TNC") and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to discuss <br />Reclamation projects where TNC has been working with the agency and water users. <br />The goal of the workshop is to bring together diverse project groups, including water <br />users, Reclamation managers, and conservation interests, to share water management <br />lessons from Reclamation projects from around the West. <br /> <br />Ditch Bill Update: As part of staff's continuing effort to keep the Board informed of <br />the U.S. Forest Service's progress on the issuance of Ditch Bill Easements and related <br />issues, the following information was provided by Michele O'Connell, USFS. At the request of Harris Sherman, DNR Executive Director, she is awaiting final <br />approval for appointment to the Colorado Foundation for Water Education Board. She <br />will replace Rep. Frank McNulty, who served on the Board as the DNR representative. <br />In this capacity, Veva will work closely with the Foundation to promote projects and <br />programs to further water resource education to all audiences around the State. Veva <br />was also recently voted onto the Colorado chapter of the American Water Resources <br />Association (AWRA) as a Director-At-Large. As a water conservation professional, she <br />hopes to bring a water conservation perspective to future A WRA programs. Founded in <br />1964, the AWRA is a non-profit professional association dedicated to the advancement <br />of men and women in water resources management, research, and education. Its <br />mission is to advance multidisciplinary water resources education, management and <br />research. <br /> <br />Water Quality / Water Quantity Coordination Update: The water quality-water <br />quantity coordination meeting took place at the Colorado Department of Public Health <br />and Environment on April 25, 2007.
