the agricultural community; and
. Tcchnological, cconomic, political, and other hurdles to implementation.
An important componcnt of the forums will be having local watcr users and providers share their stories
about successes and failures with water conservation. In developing this project, many water managers and
thcir organizations indicated their strong intcrest in sharing their storics - most of which arc positive. We
also found that some local interests want to discuss thcir watcr resources planning challenges, framed against
the benefits and values of efTective watcr conservation. As a result, the forums will provide time to discuss
comn10n intercsts, dcfine common paramcters, and establish common language to move toward more
meaningful watcr conservation statewidc.
Finally, wc cxpect the forums to provide an invaluable platform to share the most up-to-date information on
succcssful conservation and how challenges to implcmentation arc being overcomc. For example, the
Colorado Watcr Resources Research Institute has agreed to present the most recent rcsults of thcir
agricultural watcr conservation rcsearch at some of our forum cvcnts. In this way, this most recent and
topical information will be leveraged into greater exposure and discussion throughout the state. We will also
use the forum format to bring attention to othcr organizations, like the Colorado WatcrWise Council and the
local chapter of the Amcrican Watcr Works Association, who can assist watcr managers in thc future.
Another part of this task is sharing relevant information from Workshops and Forums through the
creation of a summary packet to bc made available via the world-widc web (and in hard copy, if so
requestcd) . This will benefit providcrs who were unablc to attend thc events and create a centralized
repository for information that is both voluminous and in necd of periodic updating. Based on discussion with
thc Office, we expect the G'vVI website will be thc most useful repository for thesc data.
Information on the individuals and organizations attending each workshop and forum will be retained and
provided to the CWCB and other intercsted organizations. As part of this effort, a qucstionnairc of the
technical workshop and forum attendees will be preparcd and administrated that will be used to collect
updatcd contact information; interest in conservation planning and implementation; and needs for technical
and financial assistancc. We will also provide the Officc with the original Clucstionnairc forms that havc been
filled out at the workshops and forums for futurc rcference and use.
Of particular importance will be the collcction and use of information identifying those covered cntities that
desire to develop watcr conservation plans and/ or need either technical or financial assistance or both. These
entities can be targeted by the OfTice, Colorado Water Wise Council, and others for follow-up.
Task 3: Project Reporting
In accordance with the 1254 Water Efficiency Grant guidelines, G WI will provide the following:
. Written progrcss rcports at 50 and 95 percent of project completion.
. A final project report.
Thc progrcss reports will providc the OfTice information regarding the status of the workshops and forums
and progress made toward project goals. The final report will provide a summary of thc project and:
. Lists of workshop and forum invitees and participants, including contact information;
9
