<br />000557 <br /> <br />4.0 WILDLIFE RELATED EDUCATION AND INFORMATION <br /> <br />Public information and education can contribute significantly to successful fishery <br />management and the ability of the Division to provide a diversity of recreational angling <br />opportunity. <br /> <br />Statewide fish management, angler ethics, and introduction of the sport of fishing to new <br />anglers require interaction on many levels. The challenge to the Division is to accomplish <br />citizen and angler education in an efficient and prof~!;~ional manner. <br /> <br />4.0.1 The Division will seek to inform and educate the citizens of this state about the <br />various aspects of fishery resources including the health of fishery resources, <br />the progress in recovery and conservation of fish species, and the <br />opportunities and programs available to recreational anglers. <br /> <br />4.0.2 The Division will provide information on Colorado fishing to help citizens take <br />advantage of recreational opportunities and to meet specific management and <br />customer needs. <br /> <br />4.0.3 The Division will promote and conduct training and educational programs that <br />emphasize angler ethics, sportsmanship, the needs of aquatic wildlife, and the <br />wise use and appreciation of fishery resources both within and outside of the <br />established educational system. <br /> <br />4.0.4 The Division will use the general interest in fish and fisheries to educate <br />citizens of the state about the values of healthy aquatic resources through <br />such programs as Colorado Riverwatch, Project Wild, and Fishing is Fun. <br /> <br />5.0 RESPONSIVE MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />Statewide fish management is influenced by public perception of the effectiveness of the <br />Division of Wildlife, knowledge of management issues, and strong public support and trust. <br />The challenge to the Division is to operate its statewide fishery management programs in <br />an efficient and productive manner as possible. <br /> <br />5.0.1 The Division will evaluate its statewide fishery management programs annually <br />to ensure that efficient business management practices are being applied. <br /> <br />5.0.2 The Division of Wildlife shall maintain on-going effective channels of <br />communication with citizens and anglers about the issues concerning <br />statewide fishery management in an objective, professional and friendly <br />manner. <br /> <br />14 <br />
