001l5;58

5.0.3

The Division shall involve the public in the decision-making process, using a
variety of formats including public meetings, surveys, and working groups in
a variety of locations around the state. This effort will recognize the
importance of public input into the Basin Management Plan process.

5.0.4

The Division shall routinely survey the users of aquatic resources for their
opinions and satisfactions to provide information that influences fishery
management decisions.

Closing Statement

The Commission recognizes that this Policy provides broad direction, and not everything can
be accomplished at the same time. Fishery management actions must be dynamic from
year to year and will necessarily be influenced by challenges of importance like the current
effort to understand and address the impacts of whirling disease on aquatic systems and
fish production.

The Division will annually produce an "Action Plan" for distribution to the State's citizens
that describes the actual work to be accomplished in the following 12 months. Such "Action
Plans" will be part of the Division's broader 5-year budget plan, and will be modified as
needed to reflect changes in the Wildlife Commission's Long-range Plan as those changes
are made.

Additional copies of this Statewide Fishery Management Policy may be obtained from the
Colorado Division of Wildlife, Aquatic Resources Section, 6060 Broadway, Denver, CO
80216.

15
