The wells were originally drilled In \he 50's and 60's and <br />ranga from 38 to 65 years old. The wells are drilled into 1he Sou1h PlaUe alluvium, Tha <br />groundwater level in this aquifer has remained relatively level f or the last 25 years <br />because 01 recharge from preCipitation and irrigation. The water is available year-round <br />and Is a highly productive, reliable resource, The drawback to this water source Is the <br />groundwater from the wells Is high In total dissolved solids and nitrates, and the use of <br />the water requires augmen1atico. The well water is used for nco-potable irrigation 01 the <br />go1f course, schools, parks and open space, and lor deliveries to Thermo. <br /> <br />The City has been working diligently to calibra1e its well and park meters, so accurate <br />water use can be determined. In early 2005, the City finished a two-year meter <br />replacement and calibration program. All wells are currently metered. and the meters <br />are calibrated on an annual basis to ensure accuracy. <br /> <br />Surface Irrioalion W<lIQf <br /> <br />The City has 183.9 shares of Fulton Ditch water. The Fultco Ditch delivers <br />approximatety 3,8 ac.n per share and has an eslimaled historic consumptive use value <br />011.75 ac-ft per share. The Fulton Ditch water is used lor Irrigation of the golf course <br />and cemetery and Is used for augmentation of the City's wells, This water right is <br />seasonal, delivenng water from Aprllto October in most years. <br /> <br />MounfalnWaler <br /> <br />Lastly, the City uses both C8T and Windy Gap from the CBT project. The CBT waler Is <br />used primarily In the summer months and the Windy Gap water is used in the winter <br />mOfllhs.
