'.'

- 15 -

(-.

effort. If the site receives ten thousand hits, that tells you more. This
measurement will help illustrate whether people even noticed the DVD effort,
or not. The tally will be monitored and reported by Douglas County. Wendy
Holmes is the contact person for this tally.
c) Water providers will log the number of calls received asking for infonnation
about water wise treatments, and staff of the water providers will inquire as to
whether or not the citizens were influenced by viewing the DVD, or reading a
newsletter, or some other source. The media team will create a list of sample
questions for the staff at the utilities to use. Sample questions will include: Do
remember receiving the DVD. Did you watch it? Did you find the infonnation
helpful? Are you aware there is a help line you may call with questions?
Have you taken any actions to reduce the amount of water you use in your
yard? Individual utilities will also cater these questions for their specific
programs. For example, at CasUe Pines North rebates are being offered to
citizens who remove blue grass sod. When residents call to ask about this
rebate, staff can inquire as to what influenced their decision, including the
DVD. Responses will be tallied and reported by each utility.

/.-

(..,

The three feedback/evaluative efforts described above will collectively
provide infonnation regarding the effectiveness of the project that will be
instructive to the project sponsors in detennining their future actions
regarding water conservation education. The information should also be very
useful to not only the ewcs but also other communities contemplating
similar water conservation programs.

It should be acknowledged that this DVD material is already being webcast, and
that 2006 surveys of citizens indicate these citizens do NOT yet want to go to the
Internet to view lengthy webcasts. While the Internet is obviously a growing tool
of immense potential, it is no panacea. The target audience does not yet broadly
embrace viewing thirty minutes of program material on the Internet. DVD
however, is a media currently used by the target audience for educational as well
as entertainment content of that length.

Task 7 - Project Management and ReportIng

This project will require the close coordination of various
governmental and non-govemmental entities to complete. Project
management efforts will be needed therefore to:

I
\,

. Prepare for and facilitate project kickoff meeting with ewcs and the relevant
project team members;
. Coordinate the activities of the various project team members allowing for the
various tasks to occur in a integrated manner;
. Track incurred vendor and other project costs, including in-kind costs;
. Prepare all project invoices detailing activities perfonned. and project related
costs including labor, expenses and matching contributions;
