Castle Rock Water Conservation Master Plan Backaround

long-term, sustainable water supply. The plan presents options in a manner that
will allow the Town/Community to map out a program that best fits its goals and
financial capability.

The potential water resources available to the Town fall within five primary
categories: existing Town-owned groundwater, imported groundwater, Town-
owned surface water, imported surface water and the reuse of the Town's return
flow to Plum Creek.

C tl R k' P , t d F t W t S

as e oc s rOJec e u ure a er UPPIY
Water Source Raw Water Supply Contribution Percentage
Volume
(Acre Feet/Year)
Denver Basin Groundwater 2,650 17,20/0
Town Alluvial 1,400 9,10/0
Reclaimed Water 4,410 28,60/0
Imported Surface Water 6,940 45,10/0
Total 100.00/0

Groundwater
The primary resource available to the Town at this time is our groundwater
within the Denver Basin aquifers. To ensure responsible use of this
resource, the Town commissioned CH2MHILL to complete a groundwater
model to evaluate this resource. The model better defines the Town's
aquifers characteristics, allowing the Town not only to evaluate
the conditions of the aquifers today, but also evaluate the impacts of other
water supply projects to the life of the aquifers.

a

S"

IFEE'f
1,500'

,4.r~

f\.'Qidtl1ed frQITl f'l~~l;M1r '3m

6~1

.m '0 20- 30 MIL.eS

il .
