<br />by publication to be made of the pendency of the Petition, <br /> <br />and of the time and place of the hearing on the Petition, <br /> <br />once a week for three consecutive weeks in at least one <br /> <br /> <br />newspaper of general circulation in each of the counties of <br /> <br /> <br />Morgan) Washington, Logan and Sedgwick and was to cause a <br /> <br /> <br />copy of the notice to be mailed by United States registered <br />mail to each of the Boards of County Commissioners of the <br />Counties of Morgan) Washington) Logan and Sedgwick. <br />3. The Petition for an Order Establishing the Lower <br />South Platte Water Conservancy District sets forth the <br />following: <br /> <br />(a) The proposed name of the District. <br />(b) Property wi~hin the District will benefit <br />through the construction of "works," as defined by the <br />Water Conservancy Act, by conserving) developing and <br />stabilizing supplies of water for domestic) irrigation, <br />power) manufacturing and other beneficial uses. <br />(c) The District contemplates contracting with <br />the United States pursuant to Federal Reclamation laws for <br />the construction) preservation, operation and maintenance of <br />the following contemplated improvements: <br />(1) A reservoir to be located on the South <br />Platte River west of Fort Morgan. <br />(2) Ditches, canals and pipelines from the <br />reservoir to existing irrigation and municipal water <br />supply systems or directly to lands and municipalities <br />which will be served by water stored in the reservoir. <br /> <br />(3) A pump and canal system to divert water <br /> <br />from the South Platte River immediately below Sterling <br /> <br />and deliver it to the North Sterling Inlet Canal for <br />beneficial use by the North Sterling Irrigation District. <br /> <br />-2- <br />
