-<"'::---:-~'

H-ADV ANTAGES / DISADVANTAGES
***********************************

.

Following 'are the specific advantages and disadvantages of each of the
alternate !eservoir locations evaluated in the Planning Document:

ALTERNATES "A" and "B"-EXPANSION OF CRESCENT LAKE

Advantage: Since the facility would be an expansion of an existing lake, the
concept of a body of surface water in .the area has already been accepted in the
surrounding neighborhood. The owners of the adjacent property onto which the
expansion would be made are amenable to the concept since they see a benefit
to them, and no land acquisition costs are anticipated.

Disadvantage: The anticipated capacity of the expanded lake (18 acre/feet) is
less than what the what the District has deemed desirable.

ALTERNATE "C" -CONSTRUCT A RESERVOIR IN MADRE HOLLOW

ALTERNATE "D-2"-CROW LANE RESERVOIRS

Four separate reservoirs were considered in the Crow Lane area under this
alternate, consisting of20' high and 35' high dams at each of two locations
which are designated as the Crow Lane # 1 site and the Crow Lane #2 site.
These sites are in a tandem configuration on a major natural swale which
traverses parallel to, and just west of, Crow Lane, just south of the Nes Perce
cul.;.de-sac. '

.

A disadvantage common to all four sites is that they are the furthest from the
River than any other sites considered under Alterilates "A", "B", and "C" and
therefore require the longest fill and draw transmission system.

29
