I

I

1

I
..

1

I

I

Another source of renewable water is alluvial well water. Alluvial water makes up the balance
of the Town's current water portfolio. Historically, the Town has had difficulty in operating
some of the alluvial facilities, due to high iron content and biofouling.

I

Use and Reuse of Existin~ Water Resources
The use and reuse of the current Town water resources will be a critical component of the
water supply option forwarded by the WRSMP and is a water source the Town has control
over. One source of these water rights is the Town's wastewater effluent, which can be
evaluated in a couple of different ways. The effluent can be use to irrigate greenscapes
(including the Red Hawk Golf Course, parks, streetscapes and school playing fields). Other
users would come from the industrial portions of Town including the Ready-Mix plant, Denver
Brick Company and the County wash-down facility. This is a viable use of the Town's effluent
and is being evaluated in the WRSMP, However, our 2003 Master Plan indicates a reuse
program that has a primary purpose of providing water for greenscapes uses less than 35% of
the effluent available because the demand is only during the irrigation season, but effluent flows
year round. Separate from irrigation, the Town's effluent can be used to augment the Town's
use of alluvial water along the Plum Creek, The North Plum Creek Alluvial Well Project is
currently underway to assess the quantity and quality of the Plum Creek alluvial water and
evaluate how it could be used in the Town's water system. This method has a much greater
potential to capture a majority of the Town's available effluent.

I

I

I

1

1

I

I

I

I

I
I

I

CWCB Water Conservation Planning Grant Program

SA VING WATE/l THROUGH EoveA nON, INCENTIVES, AND APPl/CA nON OF BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES
