<br />Submitted to: State Office of Water Conservation <br />Submitted by: Jean Loose and Charles Johnson <br /> <br />Although the staff wear gloves for many procedures, infection <br />control practices dictate that staff members wash their hands <br />before and after every procedure. <br /> <br />A three phase water usage study was done and results are <br />as follows: <br /> <br />PHASE 1: <br /> <br />Twelve direct care staff were selected from nine different <br />work areas to participate in a study of the number of times per <br />shift hands are washed. Each shift (day, evening and night) was <br />represented.
