We were funded the cost of 100
faucets and the installation of them by the State Water Conservation
Board. This is a summary report as agreed upon in our contract.

As stated in our grant application, our studies showed that each time a
caregiver washes hands using a regular faucet. an average of one (1)
gallon of water is used. With the automatic faucets. 118 gallon is used.

-

Our calculations showed that about 4140 gallons of water were used
each day just for handwashing when using the regular faucets. With
infrared faucets using 118th the water. the amount of water saved would
be 3622.5 gallons per day. or 1.304.100 gallons per year. The cost
savings of water would be $2203.20 per year.

The following is a comparison of 1993 and 1994 totaled water bills for
Grand Junction Regional Center and our satellite homes.

1993

29.374.480 gallons
$61,872.71

1994

24,687,080 gallons
$58.063.96

Water and cost savings in 1994
4,687.400 gallons
$3,808.75

.e
