<br />''-. <br /> <br />1.6 Water Conservation Public Education Campaign <br />In 2004, the District implemented a coordinated effort to educate its customers on their water <br />supply, water rates, and the importance of water conservation. A variety of media/venues are <br />used to distribute information to customers. These include: <br /> <br />· Newsletters - Five newsletters have been distributed to customers since May 2004. <br />Typically, one third or more of each newsletter has focused on conservation. Topics sl:\,!h <br />as the Rebate Program, explanation of the water rate structure and water bills, <br />xeriscaping, and efficient outdoor water rips have been covered. <br />· Bill inserts - Four bill inserts have been distributed to customers since 1994. These <br />inserts have provided information on rate increases, the Integrated Water Resources Plan, <br />and on stormwater. <br />· Website - Castle Pines North has a website providing information on water, parks, <br />finances, board members, and a variety of other information. Information on water <br />focuses on water supply and infrastructure, water rates and budget, water quality, <br />conservation, sewer, and storm drain. See www.cpnmd.org/ <br />· Email distribution list - Includes almost 80 percent of District customers and is used to <br />notify the public about upcoming events (e.g., public meetings), programs, and other <br />District news. <br /> <br />The District has held several public meetings in 2003 and 2004 to discuss groundwater supplies. <br />The District believes that public meetings are an important venue of communication. <br /> <br />Douglas County <br /> <br />The vision of Douglas County's citizens is embodied in the Douglas County 2020 <br />Comprehensive Master Plan (CMP), the keystone to the County's growth management program. <br />The CMP encourage.s development of renewable resources and implementing conservation <br />practices. <br /> <br />The Douglas County Planning Division facilitates implementation of the CMP through review of <br />land use applications, which are presented to the Board of County Commissioners as the <br />decision-making body. The vision of the CMP is further expressed in policy and regulatory <br />documents, including the Parks & Trails Plan, Transportation Plan, and Subdivision and Zoning <br />Resolutions. <br /> <br />Proiect Description <br /> <br />See Attachment B. <br /> <br />- 8 - <br />
