.....
co
<=>
Q')

the next A> prompt. For a hard disk, set the printer from the menu
that appears on screen 3by selecting [lO]--quit--to obtain the DOS
prompt. At the prompt, type PRINT and follow the instructions.

CJmATING A NEW DATA FILE

There is room on the existing data disk to create several new data files.
The user can also make new files on a new data disk. The procedure is
the same in both instances. To CREATE a new data file, select n1Jlllber [9]
from the main menu [save data/load data from file]. Then number [1]
[save data into a file] is selected from the next menu. To create a NEW
file, simply enter a new filename on which to save data. The procedure
for creating a new file on the new disk is the same except that, before
pressing RETURN after naming the file remove the data disk and replace, it
with a blank formatted disk.

All changes to input data are made directly on the screens in the main
program.

The changes to input data that are integral to a new file can be made at
one of two points: most efficiently, the user can make the data/changes
in the file currently loaded in the program [say 500-10 yr] and then save
the changed data into a newly named file; or the user can save data from
any of the files into a new file THEN make the data changes., Making the
data changes after thefiie is created requires that. ' the changed data be .
saved into that file [requiring the save procedure to be done twice].

DELETING A DATA FILE,

There are four data.files on the present data disk. These conform with
the study report and are: 334-curr (334 mg/L TDS baseline compared to "
1986 actual river values); 334-10yr(334 mg/L TDS baseline compared to 10
year aver-age) ;500--curr- (500 mg/L TDS baseline compared to 1986 actual
river, values); and 500-lOyr (500 mg/L TDS baseline compare'd'to 10 year
average values). If the creation of new files exceed available'space,
make a copy of the data disk and delete the old files from the copy.

Anytime you are at the DOS prompt y6u can get the directory listing,
either DIR for the default drive (program disk) 'c' or DIR A: or, DTR B: for
the data disk. 'Get the data directory to obtain the proper name of the
data file yoti wish to delete. However, you must be in DOS if you wish to
delete Ii data file from the data disk. For a double floppy, at the DOS
prompt put the DOS disk in drive A, type DIR B:, then DEL
B: [filename.ext]. Be sure to add the extension, .DAT. For the hard
drive, put the data disk in drive A, DIR A:, then DEL A: [filename.ext].
THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO DELETE AN EXISTING DATA FILE.

2
