Some of the water pumped to the vicinity .of Rio.g;..ay would be provided
to the town for municipal purposes and the remainder would be released to
the terminal portion of the existing Dallas Ditch for irrigation. The
releases to the ditch would provide for supplemental irrigation of project
lands in the ~idgway area and also would replace water presently used in
the area that would be diverted upstream by the project for supplemental
irrigation of lands along stream valleys and for conveyance to Dallas Di-
vide Reservoir.

The water from the Uncompahgre River pumped to Dallas Creek, along
with surplus Dallas Creek flows, would be lifted by Pump No. 2 to the top
of Log Hill Mesa. On the mesa the water would be diSCharged into the Ridg-
way Pump Lateral. Water from the lateral could be released on the mesa
for municipal use or it could be conveyed to the Log Hill Mesa Conduit for
delivery to the Log Hill Mesa Distribution System for subsequent delivery
for irrigation use.

Distribution and drainage facilities

It is anticipated that all project lands on Log Hill Mesa, including
full and supplemental service lands, would be served by sprinkler systems.
These systems would be provided by the water users. The project lands in
the stream valleys would be served through existing gravity flow ditches.
Any enlargement or rehabilitation of the ditch system that may be neces-
sary would be the responsibility of the ditch owners.

Land drains would be constructed on Log Hill Mesa as the need for
them was demonstrated with project operation. No drainage is expected to
be required in the stream valleys.

Municipal and industrial water supplies would be delivered without
treatment to the Tri-County Water Conservancy District for sale to the
water users. Any facilities required for diversion, treatment of the
water, or distribution beyond that provided by project facilities would
be the responsibility of the district or the water users.

Recreation and fish and wildlife development

Both Ridgway and Dallas Divide Reservoirs would provide significant
recreational opportunities because of large minimum pools and planned
operational patterns that would require only moderate drawdown of the res-
ervoirs during the prime sununer recreation season. Extensive facilities
specif'icallY f.o.r recreation are planned at both reservoirs in accordance
with recommendations of the National Park Service.

The project plan incorporates several measures for fisheries recom-
mended by the Fish and Wildlife Service. A dual-level outlet works would
be provided at Ridgw~ Dam to make possible the bl.ending of. warm upper-
. level water and cplder lower-level water'for release. to the downstrel!in'
