Storage water from Ridgway Reservoir would be primarily a municipal
and industrial supply for -the Uncompahgre Valley. About half of this
supply would be made available at or above the reservoir. The remainder
would be released to the river for use downstream in the area below the
Montrose and Delta Canal of the Uncompahgre PrOject which diverts from
the Uncompahgre River about 12 miles below the Ridgway Dam site. The
area below the canal includes Montrose, Olathe, Delta, and surrounding
rural areas. Water for project municipal uses in this area could be di-
verted directly from the river or, if agreements could be obtained with
the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users' Association, the Dallas Creek Project
water could be made available for irrigation on the Uncompahgre Project
at or below the Montrose and Delta Canal and in exchange the Dallas Creek
water users could obtain municipal supplies of higher quality from the
South Canal of the Uncompahgre Project. The South Canal heads at the
Gunnison Tunnel of the Uncompahgre Project and receives water diverted
through the tunnel from the Gunnison River. The canal termina.tes about
2 miles upstream from the head of the Montrose and Delta Canal.

In addition to water for municipal and industrial use, water from
Ridgway Reservoir would be released to the Uncompahgre River for supple-
mental project irrigation in the vicinity of Colona. Flows would be main-
tained below the reservoir to meet senior downstream rights and to enhance
the stream fishery in the river between the reservoir and the Montrose and
Delta Canal. In storing water of the Uncompahgre River for project uses,
Ridgway Reservoir would also provide for control of snowmelt .floods on the
river.

Dallas Divide Reservoir and distribu-
tion of water on Log Hill Mesa

Dallas Divide Reservoir would be formed by a dam on Pleasant Valley
Creek about 9 miles west of the town of Ridgway. The reservoir would
store surplus flows of Pleasant Valley Creek as well as water from the
East and West Forks of Dallas Creek conveyed to the reservoir by the Dal-
las Feeder Canal. Some of the water from Dallas Divide Reservoir would
be released into Pleasant Valley Creek for supplemental project irriga-
tion along the creek and the remainder would be released into the Log
Hill Mesa Conduit for conveyance to Log Hill Mesa for municipal and irri-
gation use.

"

The Log Hill Mesa Conduit would extend northeast across Log Hill Mesa
from Dallas Divide Dam to the Log Hill Mesa Distribution System. Along
its course some of the reservoir water would be turned out for municipal
use in the new community of Loghill Mesa. 'Ibe remainder would continue
in the conduit, to the Log Hill Mesa Distribution System for delivery for
irrigation use. Beyond the municipal water turnout the conduit would al-
so receive, for delivery to the distribution system, water pumped from
the Uncompahgre River and Dallas Creek by the Ridgway Pumping System and
flows of McKenzie Creek on the mesa.
