Six member states were in attendance at the Work Group <br />1-:" <br />meeting as well as several federal agencies. The executive director of <br /> <br />the Forum has traveled to the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, <br /> <br />Nevada, California, and Utah during the first quarter of this contract <br /> <br />period and has met with federal and state officials to coordinate on- <br /> <br />going water quality control efforts related to salinity and to facili- <br /> <br />tate discussions with respect to future plans. The Forum now plans to <br /> <br />formally meet March 18, 19, and 20. All elements of the Work Plan that. <br /> <br />are.apart of the Forum's contract have been addressed. Element 1 <br /> <br />refers to the creation of an NPDES Permit Library in the Forum's office. <br /> <br />i' <br /> <br />The logistics of creating this library have been addressed and a listing <br /> <br />of all NPDES Permits in the Colorado River drainage have been obtained <br /> <br />"'"" <br /> <br />from two regions of EPA and from the State of New Mexico that is not <br /> <br />within the two EPA regions. A plan for the formulation of the library <br /> <br />has been identified and the elements of this plan will shortly be addressed <br /> <br />by the states. <br /> <br />. <br />Element 2 of tpe Work Plan calls for the.assessment of Water Quality <br /> <br />Management Plans that are being pursued by each of the basin states. <br /> <br />The Work Group has met. and the various state plans have been discussed <br /> <br />and are being incorporated in a report that is now in draft form. <br /> <br />Element 3 of the Work Plan calls for an improved dissemination of <br /> <br />information and a working relationship with Forum member states.partici- <br /> <br />pants has already been established. Numerous phone calls and memorandums <br /> <br />have been used as vehicles to keep the member states praised as to the <br /> <br />progress with respect to salinity control. <br /> <br />Element 4 relates to the Forum's efforts each three years to review <br /> <br />salinity standards and the preparation of an annual report.
