<br />.,' <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />o <br />l\..1 <br />o <br />C <br /> <br />....' <br /> <br />The Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum was created by the <br /> <br />Governors of the seven Colorado River Basin states approximately six <br /> <br />years ago. The Forum has operated without a permanent staff until <br /> <br />November 1, 1980. At that date an Executive Director Was employed and <br /> <br />the contract between the State of Arizona and the Colorado River Basin <br /> <br />Salinity Control Forum was ent~red into to support the costs associated <br /> <br />with the employment of the Executive Director. The funds have. 'been. <br /> <br />provided to the State of Arizona under provisions of Section 208 of the <br /> <br />Clean Water Act (PL-92-2l7). The cost associated with operating the <br /> <br />office and provide for the services .of a part-time secretary are covered <br /> <br />,. <br /> <br />by the grant with the Four Corners Regional Commission identified .as <br /> <br />FCRC No. 611-366-018-1. <br /> <br />Because an office did not previously exist. initial time was spent <br /> <br />in. establishing an office and securing the nece~sary supplies and <br /> <br />'facilities to allow for the effective functioning of the coordinating <br /> <br />office which is headed by the Executive Director. The office has been <br /> <br />established in Suite 320 of the Chancellor Building in Salt Lake City <br /> <br />which is located at 220 South 2nd East. The Executive Director is Jack <br /> <br />A. Barnett. A part-time secretary has been employed to help assist the <br /> <br />Forum. The Forum's phone number is (80l) 533-0133 and an FTS line has <br /> <br />been provided for the Forum's use. That telephone number is 588-6076. <br /> <br />With the necessar~ logistical arrangements accomplished. the work <br /> <br /> <br />of the Forum can now move expediently ahead to address the problems of <br /> <br />salinity in the Colorado River. In fact, .meaningful work has already <br /> <br />been accomplished. The Work Group of the Forum met in San Francisco on <br /> <br />December 18th and 19th to facilitate the preparation of several reports <br />
